Providing shelter, professional counseling, and safe referrals to women in vulnerable situations or experiencing violence in remote areas of Pernambuco requires a different approach: services must reach out to them.
For a woman in a vulnerable situation, traveling can mean:

Each unit was designed as a fully equipped mobile medical facility—not as a converted vehicle, but as a building that moves.

It is a mobile service program developed by Eco X using a rural bus platform. Each unit conducts screenings, identifies at-risk situations, provides professional counseling, and makes the appropriate referrals so that women can escape situations of violence or vulnerability.

It brings protection directly to where women are: it provides prevention through information and reporting channels; identifies situations of violence in a safe space; offers a welcoming environment and professional counseling; refers individuals to the support network (social services, health care, law enforcement, the Public Defender’s Office, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office); helps women access protection mechanisms; extends the policy’s reach to remote areas; and promotes awareness campaigns.

Six mobile units, designed specifically for the Pernambuco Secretariat for Women, were delivered.
How does privacy work in consultation rooms?
The two rooms are completely separate and have their own side doors. The woman can speak freely without interruption and without the risk of being overheard from outside, which ensures confidentiality during the intake process.
Is the facility wheelchair accessible?
Yes. There is a lift at the front entrance, behind the driver's cab, and stair access for the general public. Room 1 is accessible to all visitors.
Does the unit work without a power supply?
Yes. A soundproofed generator set in the technical area powers the entire facility when it is not possible to connect to the power grid.
Is there internet access in remote areas?
Yes. The project includes an internet system with an external antenna and a high-frequency internal router to maintain connectivity even in remote locations.
What is in the outdoor reception area?
Two side awnings approximately 5 m long by 2.5 m wide, a folding table and chairs for preliminary screening, a speaker system and television for institutional content, as well as a gazebo to shelter users from the sun.
